Private jet business prepares to take off

A corporate-owned Gulfstream flying from Teterboro to Miami would pay only $236, even though they incur the same air-traffic control costs. The report says commercial planes pay 95% of FAA air-traffic-control costs, even though they use only 73% of its services. The Department of Homeland Security has also identified the growth of private jets and lax controls as a security risk. New regulations are planned, but havent been implemented yet. The private-jet industry is fuming over the report.

Private jet travel is staging a comeback. As major airlines are hiking airfares and cutting routes , and long lines at security and delayed flights weigh on travelers, private jet carriers are seeing the first increase in demand since 2008.

Bates claims he was axed by Leeds because of dispute over private jet payments

The often-outspoken former Chelsea chairman bought Leeds in January 2005 and held power at the club until signing over to current owners GFH Capital in December last year. He claims that a disagreement with GFH over his private jet caused his sacking. Axed: Ken Bates has left Leeds after a disagreement with GFH over private jet expenses Bates remained as chairman until June 30 when he started a three-year term as president, but that was abruptly ended. His private jet contract is understood to have cost the club around 120,000-a-year and was already in place before GFH took over. ‘GFH knew what cheap jet charter my expenses were when they did due diligence and they signed them off,’ he said.
